Might this be his birth? (No mother named). It certainly matches with the 1894 death age 80.

Jenny,
My great great grandmother was Jane Rogerson, daughter of Thomas Rogerson and Agnes Coupland.  I have checked the birth record for their son George Rogerson born on December 27, 1855 and that gives their marriage as 1838 in Lockerbie.  Thomas died on 24 September, 1894 in Firpark, Dryfesdale and Agnes died on July 09, 1870 in St. Mungo.  Thomas's parents were David Rogerson and Jane Wilson according to his death record, while Agnes's were William Coupland and Agnes McDougall.
I hope this helps.
Mary
