I did feel there were assumptions made, for example that John Walter was living with grandparents without any contact with mother & step father in 1901 [RG13; Piece: 3073; Folio: 74; Page: 12] - after all he could have been staying there briefly while mother had another child....

I wonder if it's only 4 episodes because they had to halt filming in March?

I think I read that they had had another couple lined up but had had to stop filming

I enjoyed the first episode so much that I fell asleep after 30 minutes and could not be bothered watching what I missed.

Yes WW1 was needless slaughter but all the WDYTYA episodes that include elements of WW1 do seem to be a rehash of the same old type of material.

Whatever the slant of people’s WW1 stories I do find them interesting.The story of David Walliams episode is told in full on The Genealogist website, and his does include WW1.

This weeks was the first one I had watch for several years and I remember why I don't watch it.

They made assumption and the basic research shown could have easily been done in 15 minutes.

That ignores all the research that goes on behind the scenes.
And the approx. 10 hours of filming that gets cut!

I've done some research for WDYTYA, which I know won't ever make it to a TV programme.
And I know how many hours of research I charged them for!

Please try to remember that WDYTYA is an entertainment programme for the masses.
It is NOT a tutorial on genealogy!
