Theodora Ward, given away as a baby

She would have been over 15 months old when she was handed over so possibly unlikely that they changed her first name.

I found one Theodora, born on the right day, on the 1939 register, but unfortunately it's not the right one.

There are no Breseman names on the 1939 so far as I can see - a tempting Pontypridd Bresman is in fact Bresnan, mistranscribed.

We don't have the 1921, and as foreign nationals the Bresemans wouldn't be on voters registers.

Carrying on ruling things out -

can't see a marriage for them in the UK (they say they've been married for 5 years in the 1911),

they wouldn't necessarily appear on immigration records, although there is a Wilhelm Breseman on the Belgium Antwerp Immigration index for 1901, showing birth 1880 (which matches) and birthplace of Altona, which is a suburb of Hamburg.
This Wilhelm is shown as Wilhelm Carl Heinrich Bresemann and - now I've deciphered it - 'husband of Alma Augusta Bergsteth' which seems to match the 1911.

Well, it does look feasible, heddwch.

In which case, since her adoptive mother appears to have died when Theodora was only 7 I wonder whether Wilhelm married again?  Or perhaps he had family to help him in Hamburg?

I am trying to decipher that last marriage I gave.

Since I don't speak German and am not good at reading German handwriting, this is prone to error.

However, it seems to say that wife Maria Charlotte Auguste was born BARGSTEDT and is now Hackmack.

Bargstedt was the surname of Alma?
