jessie spencer smith arnold (1860-1920)
« on: Monday 28 September 20 03:32 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find where this relative is buried. She was born in London in 1860. The family emigrated to New Zealand. Her maiden name was Jessie Spencer Smith . She married the architect Charles le Neve Arnold in Dunedin on 6 Dec 1882. She moved to Auckland where three sons were born.
I have tried the Auckland Cemeteries database without success. Also thought she might have been buried in Dunedin where most of her birth  family are  interred but again no results.  Any help finding Jessie would be realy appreciated . Thanks  Orkrad.

She is buried at Waimairi just as Jessie Arnold, which is in North Canterbury.

Burial record says wife of Charles Le Neve.

Hello.

New Zealand PapersPast, records a very large number of adverts placed in the Auckland press by one Charles ARNOLD Architect, between October 1883 and February 1887.

Thanks Minniehaha, Alan and Lucy2. Jessie was married to Charles le Neve Arnold who was responsible for designing quite a few large Auckland buildings including Auckland Grammar School. I wanted to find out a little about Jessie(including her cemetery records ) in order to correct a mis spelling of her name in the 1861 census for London, England. There she is named Shanoah (? )  the baby daughter of Alfred William Smith . The family came to New Zealand in 1862/63. I dont have a copy of the 1861  London census to check the written physical record but she was Jessie Spencer Smith  and I am hoping that by providing a few details such as her marriage and death details some correction can be made.  Thanks everyone for your help.

FindMyPast and FamilySearch have indexed her name as 'Jessie Shenoer',  Ancestry as 'Jessie Thomas'.
