England & Wales Marriage Index 1837-2005 Hill-Farrer 1942
« on: Monday 28 September 20 10:52 BST (UK) »
Hi

Just hoping someone could please help with checking the ages of George Hill & Emma Farrer who were married in Luton 1st Quarter 1942.  Marriage is in Vol 3 on Page 1425. If their parents names are visible that would be great too.  Both George and Emma were born in Durham.

Would be so very grateful for any help with this,

Many thanks for reading my request,
Maureen - Sydney Australia

Page and Quarter(of the year) doesn't pin down a town or even a venue.
Luton will cover many places.

I don't think we can help much.

A decent candidate for Emma was b 1907 and died Luton last qtr 1971

Have you tried looking for them on the 1939 register, Emmas name should be identifiable by a change in surname Farrer/Hill.

Details will be on the Marriage Certificate - which you have to purchase from GRO.

You are correct Rosie Emma is in Durham in 1939, her name is annotated Hill, single with her parents. George is more difficult, so the marriage record may need to be purchased, I think George may have been married before.

I am not sure if we can post information from the 1939 Register on Roots?

Only information that is available from a free search.  I don't think she is with her parents  ;D

I think this may be their marriage based on MMN Weighall on Emma's birth registration

Marriage Dec qtr 1896
Farrer    Nathan
WEIGHALL    Emma
Stockton    10a   8

Rosie, going by other residents in 1939 who are probably Emma's sister's then your marriage details re Nathan &Emma are probably correct as they do ALL appear together in 1911.

The good thing about the 1911 is it is available free to view so we don't break rootschat rules by giving the link  ;D
