Thackray ALIAS???
« on: Monday 28 September 20 14:32 BST (UK) »
West York's soldier H Thackray. I have a copy of MIC, it shows 2 numbers 19737 and 70130, christian name Harry, also served in RDC.
I checked the fold 3 pension records and found Thackray John Henry, number 70130, served with Ryl Defence C.
Any ideas if this is the same person , if so why two different names, any other details would be appreciated.
Thanks

Almost certainly a clerical error.  His RDC medal roll entries both have initials J H.  The J has been crossed out with the reference to the piece of paper (no doubt long since consigned to the waste paper bin of history) that authorised the change given .  The cards and the rolls were not done at the same time or by the same office and the West Yorks and the RDC had different record offices so the scope for a minor error is enormous!

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Could be that he was baptised as John Henry, but preferred to be known as Harry?
Not an uncommon situation ;D
