7 April 1828 (birth years were mentioned)

1829 - 8 March – Jens Mogen Julius Jensen
1830 – 15 June – Sidse Maria Jensen
1831 – 4 February – Mette Christine Jensen (this is the date on the record but it is only 8 months after Sidse Maria)
1833 – 10 July - Wilhelmine Caroline Jensen
1835 – 5 February – Niels Peter Jensen
1839 -  Jane Jensen (she fits in here but cannot get any records of her birth nor any other children. The older children were all born in Kobenhavn and Lovise Frederikka Larsdatta was born in Magleby Praesto. So Jane could have been born in either place.)
1844 – 12 January – Lovise Frederikka Larsdattta Jensen

2.   Cecilia? Aged 19 = 1831 (Sidse Maria1830? or Mette Christine 1831?)

1860 (Lovise is a widow)
1.   (G)Cecilie Maria aged 29 = 1831 (Mette Christine 1831 or is it Sidse Maria 1830?)
2.   Niels Peter aged 26 = 1834
(Just above this there is Emilie Jensen listed aged 32 = 1828)

What I think is that they have two homes as the childrens names are not consistent apart from Niels Peter who appears in all these census records and they seem to have helpers in the house as well. What I would like is to get JANE JENSEN’s birth details. I have JENS MOGEN JULIUS JENSEN’s baptism and birth. Thank you for that as well as Lovise Frederikka Amalia’s death. However, I have managed to connect them with regards to his marriage to Susan Donnahue and both their children’s baptisms.

To be honest I really don't know. There is no evidence that Jane is from Denmark, she may well have been born in South Africa. There is no evidence that Jane is even Jens' sibling. To be sure Alfred and Jane's marriage record must be found.

Hi Ian,

I have found a record of a daughter born to Jane and Alfred B Benn in 1855. Amelia Elizabeth Jane married to Felix James Cornuel. I got their marriage and her death records which I will attach, which stated the year she was born. (1855-1886). I have been in contact with Wits University in Johannesburg South Africa and she said that there are no Anglican marriages recorded before 1860 in Oudtshoorn or George. I have checked through the Grahamstown records and this is where I picked up Amelia Elizabeth Jane Benn's marriage. Julius Jensen was once again a witness. These records make Jane JANSEN (JENSEN) only 16 and Alfred Boxold Benn 21 when Amelia Elizabeth Jane BENN was born.

I am just NOT getting any records for either Jane JANSEN or Jane JENSEN. Any ideas !!!

I have found a record of one of Alfred Boxold Benn’s younger brothers arriving in East London South Africa on the Athenian Ship but no further details like year or list of passengers to check.

I have a record of a JOHANNE MARIE JENSEN born in 1839 in Copenhagen (could be Jane Jensen) as well as a departure from Denmark. I CANNOT find ANY record of a Jane Jansen in South Africa and the only Jansens are near Cape Town.
