Hi, do you have a copy of the marriage certificate. If so who is named as John's father and what was John Patricks occupation.

John

Alice Brennan was married first to Gordon Brooker? By co-incidence, someone has just posted re Gordon Brooker yesterday. See www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=838012.0

Think he is McGray on 1939 register, so what is right and what is wrong?

Carole you beat me to it regarding the birth!

I was also going to mention to Oscar that any name beginning with Mc - can be transcribed as Mc, Mac - or either of those with a space - before the rest of the name.

Now with finding the birth - strongly suggest that you obtain the birth cert from the General Register Office, Oscar -- a PDF copy is only £7.
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/login.asp

You will need to register if you haven't used the service before.

Bear in mind that with a name like McCrae (McCray) - you may end up researching in Scotland!
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.
