Wondering if anyone would know the name of a family who owned a Farm near Douglas near Balfron around 1880 -1881? Sorry that's all I have, in relation to a Mary O'Neil who worked there at that time.

Murphy Hutchinston Glasgow
Salmon Paisley
Maher Tipperary, Ireland . Maryhill Glasgow.

Have you found her on the 1881 census? If she is at the farm, you will find its name and details about the farmer. That will then allow you to look at the valuation rolls to see whether the farmer is owner or a tenant.

Hi thanks for that. No I cannot find her on the 1881 census. I got the information from her sons birth certificate.  He was born in Springburn in 1881, and was illegitimate. She stated her usual place of residence was possibly Balfunning Douglas near Balfron. She was a Farm servant.
