That was always the response from the IT department at work. They had me flummoxed when I was new to tech and they asked if I'd rebooted.  ??? ??? I soon learnt and always made sure I'd rebooted before phoning them.

I, too worked in IT.
We talked about a "soft" reboot (i.e. Windows Restart) and a "hard" reboot (switch off, wait at least 30 secs, switch on).
A "hard" reboot would solve most problems! ;D
