Hi Yasmina,

What records do you have on Ida's life? e.g. where did you get "near Naples" and her father's name from?

The best place to start is to get as much info about Ida's life as possible so as to focus where to look in Italy.
 - emigration (any accompanying family? what places named? any naturalisation paperwork, either for her or for her husband - that might give her details)
 - marriage (what information about family - e.g. father's name, occupation)
 - children (family names used?)
 - death
 - obituary
 - wills

Barnet. 14 years ago. Her maiden surname apparantly denotes her father was a founding we think

Hi Yasmina,

I see on the index that she is listed in 1946 with two surnames - Esposito and Martin - why is this? What exactly does the marriage certificate say about her (marital status, address), her father (occupation), and what were the names of the witnesses to marriage?

Esposito is a foundling surname in origin but it doesn't mean it was her father - could be several generations back that received that name. It's also one of the most common names in Italy so we really need to try and tease as much info out of her life in the UK before attempting to jump back to Europe.

Thank you for the interest.

I can give you the uk history and where she came from.  I'm enquiring about her family ba kground for her daughter.

I shall give you all the details when I have retrieved them from her daughter

I tried to add the print out but it was apparently too long a document to copy.

Basics
Raffaelo,  idas father  , was the foundling. His father a scandinavian sailor and his mother an Italian girl. He was brought up and educated by local monks.

Also he was known as el savio, due to his literacy.

Born caivano 27 september 1920.

I would guess from the above that there is likely to be no further information. The daughter says she has no idea how the name martin was attached to her mother.  Thank you.

Hi Yasmina4,
I am the one that has the posting "Italian Research".
Caivano is a suburb of Naples in the Campania Region.

I could get hold of a copy of the birth certificate for you, but at the moment Italy is in partial "lockdown".  The whole of Campania is in the "Red Zone".  Meaning no one goes in or out of the Region.  Supermarkets, chemist, barbers, hairdressers open.  Everything else closed except bars/restaurants for take away only.  Curfew at 9 in the evening until 6 in the morning.  Public offices are at a standstill and only working for emergency documents.

Make a note in your diary of me and when it all calms down we'll start.

That's wonderful.

The lady's grand daughter has done dna a few years ago.

I imagine they would want to follow back to idas great grandmother. Since she was done wrong.

Its convenient that there will be a lull for a bit as a family member is undergoing very scary tests and the family are concentrating on that.

Thank you so much  for helping..I. sure the daughter of ida will be blown away by any findings . So kind
