As the title says...

Patrick was born in March 1901, Dublin, to James Dunnett (1871-1906) and Mary Hart (1872-1901).

He had two sisters, Mary and Annie and a brother, John. After the parents death, these 3 were sent to industrial schools in the city. I already have all my information on them but Patrick is the family mystery. We're not sure where he went as a 5 year old.

Family has said he was adopted but we're not sure by who. My guess is a woman called Bridget Reddy, who was a family friend we know about (he lists her as his grandmother on his army record...so I'm not sure).

So far, I can only find 4 records on Patrick. His Birth record, 1901 census, an army record (Cobh Southern Division Cork Command - 1923) and his marriage cert (Dublin, 1930). That's how I learned about his wife, Catherine. Her father was Patrick O'Neill. Please find my sources attached to this notice.

Other than that, I've checked Ireland records, UK, USA...the world over, and I've found nothing more on either of them. I've no idea if they had children.

I looked on both Ancestry, Find my Past, civil records, wills and army records. Still nothing. Maybe I need a fresh set of eyes on the task at hand. Would appreciate any help. Thank you!

+ I must add, I've already checked surname variations. 'Dunnett' has been spelled 'Donnett' or 'Dunnette' on a couple of other records. Still no luck!

Hi,
There is a death in 1961. It says he is single, I can not find a birth other than Patrick in 1901.

Hi Magsie, thanks for having a look for me! I came across this death record too but I don't think it's Patrick. As you say, it says he's single but it could be an error? For now, I've sort of put this one to the side and might come back to it later!

Bridget Reddy is a witness to Patrick’s marriage. (As above)

1941 death of Bridget Reddy, 70 yrs, widow, 43 Wellington Street (same address as his marriage
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1941/04711/4258439.pdf

1911 census -there is a single Bridget Reddy here - Wellington Street, Upper - is that same or in the area?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Inns_Quay/Wellington_Street__Upper/32618/

Another Bridget
1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/North_Dock/Tyrone_Street__Lower/17599/

There is a birth for Patrick Reddy so the young Patrick here is not Patrick Dunnett

Thanks for the links! Very interesting...I wish I could see a photocopy of the birth cert. I think this is the only probable link I have to finding out what happened to Patrick and Catherine.

Hi Heywood, thank you for the links! I have actually come across the second census with Bridget and Mary Cummins. Mary is my 3X Great Grandmother!

No sign of Patrick there. I wonder if he was put in an orphanage for a while as a baby until Bridget got him out? I just can't get over the fact that even after 1930, he seems to have vanished without a trace. Cheers again!
