Looking for a Marriage Cert (1864 - 1867) to find Ancestor's Name
« on: Thursday 01 October 20 14:52 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I'm looking for a marriage cert for a James Roche & a Mary Elizabeth Moloney to find James Father's name. I have checked online on Roots Ireland, Ireland Genealogy & Family Search org and so far I can't find it. James Roche was a miller and so for work he moved around the country as per his children's baptism records, (1867 - Mary Julia, Galway), (1868 - Bridget Ellen, Bandon, Cork), (1873 - Theresa Mary - Youghal parish, Waterford ), (1874 Elizabeth Mary, Colligan, Waterford), (1876 - James Michael - Dungarvan Parish, Waterford), (1880 - Ellen Emma, Kilworth, Cork) & (circa 1882 - Margaret, Cork City as per 1901 census). By 1901 James & Mary Elizabeth are listed on census as living on 12 Liffey Street, Dublin, census says James was born in Waterford circa 1849 & Mary Elizabeth was born in Limerick so marriage could have occurred in any of at least 4 Counties. Also by 1911 census Mary Elizabeth is listed as a Widow in Dublin but I can't find a death cert for James either.

Possible death- James Roche from Dublin, married, age 65, flour miller, died Naas Workhouse-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1910/05429/4517915.pdf

Civil registration of Catholic marriages only started in 1864 so if they married 1863 or earlier the marriage won't appear in civil records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
