MARTIN - Dundee
« on: Tuesday 06 October 20 17:23 BST (UK) »
Looking for my Martin ancestors, have gone back 4 generations but I am stuck finding any of my grandfather’s siblings. He was Andrew Martin  1896-1941, his brothers were Joseph 1887, John Cornelius 1888, Francis 1894, James 1899, Patrick 1900 and William 1903 information obtained from census records …. all Dundee. I do have information on my grandfather’s father and grandfather …. Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk?

John Cornelius Martin died in 1888 aged under 1 year, mother's maiden surname Mitchell.

Cornelius Martin, aged 74, died in Dundee in 1905. His death certificate should tell you the names of his parents. Looks as if he may have been John Cornelius' grandfather.

Mary Ann Martin or Mitchell died in Dundee in 1934 aged 74.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you for that information, it is exactly as I found it, you are correct about Cornelius being John Cornelius' grandfather.
Cornelius was born in Ireland and so I have not gone any further with this line  (yet)
Still hoping for a lead on one of the other Martin brothers
