Marriage 1837 Chester
« on: Wednesday 07 October 20 09:41 BST (UK) »
I found a marriage in Chester on 24 Nov 1837 between a John Reynolds - Carpenter to Elzabeth Scott both of full age and single and both of Foregate St. Their parents were listed as John Reynolds - Farmer and Robert Roberts Scott - Wire ...?   Witnesses James Obsorn and Elizabeth Foden.   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F3XP-JXB

I have no other info on the couple and can't see possible children  on the GRO Birth Index.    Can anyone see them in the census??

Thanks for your time Kay

I can't see them in 1841 but my eyes aren't as good as they were  :)

It could have been a second marriage for Elizabeth in which case if there were any births the maiden name would not be Scott

Also - they may not have stayed in Cheshire.  I have 2 Liverpool born ancestors who both married in Cheshire for some reason but returned to Liverpool.

What is the possible connection to your FH which may give us a clue when searching the censuses?

There is a John Reynolds, Carpenter aged 32 with a 29 year old Elizabeth in 1841 living in Hyde, Cheshire - neither born in the County. There is a 7 year old Margaret with them (born in County) and a 4 year old Elizabeth - (not born in County.)

If it is your couple maybe Margaret was from a previous relationship of either John or Elizabeth. Of course it may not be your couple at all - but the occupation and name fit!!

They are with the Harrisons in 1841.
Elizabeth Reynolds, 14, born Manchester, is with grandmother Elizabeth Harrison in Hyde in 1851

Apologies - We had a visitor - a rare event!!

Thanks for the 1841 family - I will look into them.   I have a marriage in 1833 in Chester of an Elizabeth Reynolds of Chester to Thomas Speed with witnesses including John Reynolds and Harriet Reynolds and I was trying to see if the 1837 marriage might be the witness to the 1833 marriage

Thanks Kay
