Hi,

I am trying to obtain more information on the Aston family, I have attached a link to let people know I started in Hampshire & IofW.

The only information I have is : James George Aston DOB: 16 October 1913..Died 21 Dec 2003 Southampton.  It seems he was born in Birkenhead.  His mother’s maiden name was Jennings.  I wan unable to take James’s tree further back.

Any information greatly received.   I believe from speaking to family members I am on the right track.

During WWII James seemingly worked for Avro aircraft company in Glos.

If I am repeating myself I apologise.

Regards
Keith

Perhaps the purchase of James' birth certificate will help to start the hunt and help to locate his parents' marriage.  I can't readily see a marriage between Aston and Jennings in the Birkenhead area.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks Bumble,

I can’t see a marriage either nor a 1911 census with their details

This is a bit confusing. The James G Aston born in Birkenhead  had mmn Kelly and was registered in Q3 1912 so it can't be him.

There's another James G Aston registered in Q4 1913 in West Derby RD (which is Liverpool area) mmn Jennings.

IF his mother's maiden name WAS Jennings (and I am not sure how you know at the moment) - then there is a possibility of several other children being born with that combination of surnames - but elsewhere.

I haven't searched thoroughly, but there is;

Alfred 1903 West Brom Dist
Frank 1906    same
Winifred Lily  1909  same
Marjorie  1915 Bakewell

In addition a Samuel Alfred Aston married Rebecca Jennings West Brom District in Q/E Sept 1898.

In 1911 the family are living in Oldbury Worcestershire!

This may of course just be wandering down the wrong family!
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

My turn for a long shot :-)

A William George Aston married Alice Dorothy Jennings in 1912 and I found a UK army pension record for him which looks like it would warrant further investigation as it shows they had two children by 1916  James and  Marjorie

Boo -- that one looks far more likely than the family I found!! The James and Marjorie (if James WAS born in the Birkenhead area) - were born in much nearer areas.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Hi ShaunJ

I am going for the James Aston born in Liverpool and have taken the leap of faith in ordering up his birth cert.
