Boo -- that one looks far more likely than the family I found!! The James and Marjorie (if James WAS born in the Birkenhead area) - were born in much nearer areas.

Well  this couple do seem to have had a son called James which is a plus point but they also seem to have flitted around the country a fair bit. :-)

I am unsure how the MMN and birthplace is known and as ShaunJ pointed out the only registration in the Merseyside area for a James G Aston with MMN Jennings was registered in West Derby District - which doesn't cover Birkenhead.

Hi Tickettyboo

I have hedged my bets on the James Aston born in West Derby Liverpool.  I realise West Derby does not cover Birkenhead, only because I was born in Toxteth  ;D  left when I was a child, that's another story

Also I will not know if I have gone down the wrong path until I receive James George Aston's birth cert next week.

Kind Regards

IF his mother's maiden name WAS Jennings (and I am not sure how you know at the moment) - then there is a possibility of several other children being born with that combination of surnames - but elsewhere.

I haven't searched thoroughly, but there is;

Alfred 1903 West Brom Dist
Frank 1906    same
Winifred Lily  1909  same
Marjorie  1915 Bakewell

In addition a Samuel Alfred Aston married Rebecca Jennings West Brom District in Q/E Sept 1898.

In 1911 the family are living in Oldbury Worcestershire!

This may of course just be wandering down the wrong family!

Hi Pennines,

We meet again.  Thanks for your input as ever.

Yes i hope i am on the right path this time i will only know when i recieve James's birth cert next week.

Yes Keith - we meet again. I'm not stalking you - honestly!!

Well - if the Army record is the correct father - then in 1911 he is showing (I think) as living and working as a Baker in Middlesex - and with a birth place of Minster Lovell in Oxfordshire! Don't know if it's the correct one of course.

He and his future wife, found by Boo, did marry in Middlesex.

Not making it easy are they!
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

LOL I smiled Pennines

No things aren't easy are they but that's what I like about family history.  I have to say the Aston family seemed to have moved around the country a lot.

No doubt I will have more questions than answers.
