My 'first' Belcher was Hannah, born Stoke Lyne, Oxon, 1795. She married James Dobson in 1819. Her mother was born Stoke Lyne, as were her siblings, but father Stephen Belcher was from Heyford Lower, about 5 miles away. There are a lot of Belchers born here, but no earlier than this family, including Father William. There were 4 possibilities in a working distance, with some discussion with Rootschatters we settled for one born Combe 1738, being the nearest. Of course this could be wrong, so I am still open to suggestions!
It keeps us out of mischief!
