Obtaining Fathers Army WW2 Record.
« on: Friday 09 October 20 14:12 BST (UK) »
Hi My Husband completed the request forms for his Fathers Army record and sent the cheque for £30.00 on 2 July 2020. Haven't heard anything since, and can't find any phone numbers to contact. Sure he sent it "signed for" and so we know it arrived.
Can you suggest how to follow it up please?
Thanks,
Newbie

I'll send you a PM with the external email addresses they gave me back in 2014. Whether they are still valid, I don't know.

July 2020 is not really that long to wait many people have waited a lot longer for them before Covid.  Priority with these requests for records is given to those still living.

Everything is taking longer due to the pandemic.

Hopefully you’ll hear back soon.

Romilly.

Newbie,

I also put in an application back in April this year (from what I can recall) and today have received an email acknowledgement, with apologies for delay due to the department being closed since March and a large backlog.

I am guessing that as a cheque had to be sent with the application and cheques are only valid for six months, this might explain why I have just have come to the top of their acknowledgment list.

If the above is anything to go by, you might get your acknowledgement before the end of this year !

Recent reports suggest between 2 and 12 months. They prioritise cases where there is a welfare element, such as living veterans needing to prove their service, or dependants similarly.

Alandal, so about 6 months wait,  that's fine - its the not knowing!
Thank you for the advice.  Newbie
