Malcolm and Robina McDonald had a daughter Lillian who was married to Sully Hill (all deceased)

Lillian and Sully Hill had a son William Roderick "Bill" Hill - May 9, 1955 – November 4, 2019

Thank you again, Sandra, that is all wonderful.

I can confirm that the Malcolm M(a)cDonald with wife Robina and sons Linton and Grant are definitely a different couple, because I have found both families listed in the 1921 census. 'My' ones are in Shellmouth, Marquette, Manitoba, and Linton and Grant are with their parents in Wallace, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

That's correct. They were also on the 1916 census in reply 8 which didn't fit with the marriage in 1919 Scotland.

Happy to echo that. I guess that Sandra must be in Canada :)

We don't have North American style Thanksgiving celebrations here in Scotland. When I was a child, there was one day in autumn when the church was decorated with flowers, fruit, vegetables and sheaves of corn*, but that was it.

*That's corn as in oats, mostly, as opposed to maize. Biblical references to corn refer to cereal crops, because maize was unknown in Europe and the Middle East.

Except .... there is a carving of an ear of maize in Rosslyn Chapel, which pre-dates Columbus' 'discovery' of America in 1492.
