just now Googled Nik Collection and landed on their web site..  it was looking fabulous until I saw the prices ... they actually wanted real folding money .... it was like Dracula getting hit by a silver bullet

I got mine for very cheap ages ago. Then it was taken over by Google and it became free. Now it's Dxo (or whatever).

I got the Nik collection ages ago when you recommended it Gadget and I use it quite a lot, very useful.
I wish I knew half as much as you about photo editing and photography in general...but I get by  ::) ;D ;D

There are other apps that other restorers use that are probably better - Remini, Affinity, etc. - as you have to do a lot of jiggling with Nik.

There are other apps that other restorers use that are probably better - Remini, Affinity, etc. - as you have to do a lot of jiggling with Nik.

Just gave Remini (android app) a try on the original image I posted here. While it didn't help remove the patterning from the original, it gave amazing results in sections of the second pattern suppressed image. Especially around the eyes, nose and mouth areas.
 
I didn't think this much AI detail could be generated from a 15mm x 20mm face in an old WWII photo.

It was the standard free one click option used in the Remini app.

Does the Remini Pro paid version give additions like adjustable filter intensity?

I think Tomkin and Andy use it. I'm not sure if they have bought the app - I'm sure tomkin won't have bought it  ;D ;D ;D

I think that they are for android and ios only.

I've just checked and My Heritage also uses them for their enhancements.
