Frank William Banfield was born 26 Sept 1892 Cornwall, England. He immigrated in 1913

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply.
I have followed the Banfield line back to Cornwall and have found no common linkage. I have found some detailed trees on ancestry.
 Therefore I believe I need to look into the Van Norden line to find the connection. I can see from the marriage note you posted that Florence mother was Louise so that's a start!

I have gotten back to Frederick Van Norden (born c.1885, Virginia) and wife Louise Johnsen (born c.1890, NY)
They had three children
Gladys 1919, Frederick 1921-1944 & Florence 1923-1985

I cannot find either Ferderick or Louise in any census before 1920.
