Thomas Bainbridge
« on: Monday 12 October 20 12:34 BST (UK) »
Hi

Looking to find Thomas with his parents.

He was born in Startforth, Yorkshire (Durham) c 1853 to 1856.

He married Margaret Jane Richardson (nee Coates) in Sunderland register Office on the 24th November 1888.
Father's name given as Richard Bainbridge (deceased) a former manager at cotton factory.

Thomas relocated to Ryhope, Sunderland, and can be found with Margaret on the 1891, 1901 and 1911 census - two of these census he names Startforth (Starforth), as his place of birth, and one he names it as 'Durham.'

Can anybody find him with his parents prior to his marriage, or a baptism?

Many thanks

Sue

Did you search the GRO indexes for the 1850's birth?
and for candidate siblings?
What names witness the 1888 marriage?

If Richard Bainbridge is deceased, then it's an unusual enough name to warrant eliminating deaths.
and also to look at listing out the list of potential local marriages for Richard

Hi

Unfortunately, I do not have the marriage certificate, just a brief transcript from it.

Just finding it impossible to connect Thomas and Richard   >:(

Hi, possible 1861 census for Thomas with father Richard (a widower) the 4 children listed ALL have the mother's maiden name Robinson.

1861 RG 3719 78 39

Richard with wife Elizabeth and children, again mmn Robinson for William who does not appear in 1861

1851 HO107 2387 331 15

I suspect that Elizabeth was either a widow or not free to marry as I cannot find a Bainbridge/Robinson marriage and this census does appear to show a daughter for Elizabeth-a Mary but aged is difficult to read.

John

added, this possibly the death of Elizabeth
