Death certificate - Germany
« on: Monday 12 October 20 12:43 BST (UK) »
Hello

I need to locate and apply for a death certificate for someone who died there within the last 20 years.

Is this something I can do for myself or, as I dont speak or write in German, should I appoint a research agent?

Thanks

German privacy laws protect records

Births 110 years
Marriages 80 years
Deaths 30 years

you can only be apply for records within these periods if you are a direct descendant.

There must be official organisations or professional researchers you can approach to obtain these on your behalf for legal reasons outside of Germany?
