Who was Phoebe Hill?
« on: Monday 12 October 20 16:55 BST (UK) »
Just wanted to top and tail this lady as all I currently have is her marriage to my husband's 2nd great great grandfather Joseph Fisher in Warrington RD in the 2nd qtr of 1886 (the same quarter as Joseph Fisher's first wife's death was registered in Chesterfield RD, Derbyshire).

Joseph Fisher was born and lived in Yorkshire until the 1841 census then seems to have spent the rest of his life in Derbyshire and this is him in the 1891 census:  Piece: 2766; Folio: 77; Page: 39.

I have no idea why he married for the second time in Lancashire.

Can anybody see any further information on this marriage so that I can see if Phoebe was a widow and what her father's name might have been as I can't see any history for her prior to this 1886 marriage.

Any help appreciated thanks,  Pheno

Oh so this isn't my Joseph Fisher's marriage at all, thanks Pauline.

I was rather concerned that not only had he rushed into it but what was he doing in Lancashire.

Ok now back to the drawing board as I can't easily see a marriage between a Joseph Fisher and a Phoebe ? in Derbyshire.

Thanks, Pheno

Thanks garstonite and lancsann for your clarification.

This is neither my Phoebe or my Joseph who married a Phoebe and not a Mary and whose father was Zephaniah.

So back to the drawing board in Derbyshire I think.

I wonder was she Phoebe Torkington in 1881 married to John?

1901 as Fisher - Birthyear 1838
1891 - 1841
1881 as Torkington - 1831
1871  - 1826

John is shown as a widower in 1891 but no death for Phoebe and no marriage

Look at 1881 census Paradise Row Belper

Phoebe Hunt 41 widow Cotton Factory Hand
Jane Hunt daughter 10
It's hard to say if she is a lodger or daughter of William and Mary Smith as its lined through.

GRO iNdex
Jane Hunt registered 1870 mothers maiden name is Camomile

So is Phoebe Hunt a sister or cousin to Joseph Fisher' first wife Hannah Camomile?
ADDED
Further research looks like Phebe Twigg her father William marries William Hunt 1864 his father George witness' are William Smith and Mary Ann Smith who she is living with in 1881.
So how does Jane Hunt have mothers maiden name Camomile?
