What New thing have you learned today?

I am trying to create links to DNA matches and whilst adding a census record to a person who is at home with the kids whilst her Husband is away at work and I have not seen the term used before.

The census entry has her as a Flatman's Wife.

Googling it gives a Flatman as one who works on a flat bottomed boat that is used on Rivers and Canals.

Well, - I didn’t know that one either...

I was thinking along the lines of an episode of the ‘X Files’ , where a man is able to slide through letter boxes and heating vents...!

I learnt which of my second cousin once removed was parent of an adoptee

It was the girl ... I was contacting her about ancestors   not getting much reply
Her nephew was also a match and told me she wasnt very good on computers but now I wonder if she did dna in order to find out about her birth child ...
