« on: Monday 12 October 20 20:04 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help please? Searching for marriage of my 2X great grandparents

Jane (born in Glyn Ceiriog abt. 1845)   married to John Williams (born Froncysyllte abt. 1841)

In 1881 they lived in Underhill Terrace Froncysyllte, Their eldest son Edward was aged 17.

I would be grateful for any information on them.

I struggled to find that 1881 census entry - for those looking, the reference is RG11/5540/111/13 (Wales).

It looks as though this is the birth registration of the youngest child in that census:

Thomas William Williams, mother’s maiden name Davies, Sep qtr 1880 Corwen 11b 388.

Have you found any of them in 1871?

I’ve now found them in 1871 with sons Edward 7, Richard 4 and John A, 7mo: RG10/5682/109/6.

There are Davies households on either side of the Williams’ address. Perhaps the neighbours Richard and Sarah Davies are Jane’s parents?

Agreed on Davies - have found them in 1891, with youngest son Austen aged 6. He also has mmn Davies

Probably worth noting that in 1871 & 91, John and Jane give place of birth as Llangollen

Chirk’s registration district was Oswestry, so this marriage may be relevant:

Thank you so much all of you for your replies . I can now fill in the one missing surname from my page of 2X great grandparents!!!!

Richard who was 4 in 1871 was the organist at Carmel Baptist chapel Fron.  I have a chair (with a plaque attached), gifted to him in 1914 as a thank you from the chapel for his help as organist for several years.

My great grandfather is James Williams, born 1884. A cousin found him on the 1891 census.
