Mystery place in Derbyshire in 1881 census

I wonder if Chatters have any ideas for the place in the attached clip from the 1881 E&W census - second line down, looks like 'Hescsham'. The lady in question shows as born in Dore, Dronfield and Totley in other censuses but there isn't an obvious bp for her there. Just wonder if she grew up around Dronfield but was born elsewhere and this entry holds a clue. Or maybe it's the name of a farm in the Dronfield area. All ideas welcome. Many thanks.

Will that help decipher the place name? She's in censuses as Mary Cawthorne born c 1816/7.

It may help as we will then be able to see where she is living as you have not given us any clue

I think others may want to look at all the writing on census page, also look for a baptism.

The actual writing looks like 'Hexsham' to me but probably not a place.

FindMyPast have transcribed as Hexsham, Derbyshire.

She's in Handsworth with husband Elijah. Their marriage in 1838 in Sheffield says her father was John a labourer. There are bps for John and Deborah (nee Ward) in Dronfield either side of 1816/7 so it could be a lost entry. There's also a bp in Ashover but mother is Mary. Deborah is in the 1851 census so it can't be a remarriage for John, although the Ashover clerk may have written down the mother as Mary as well as the child.

It does look like that but where is such a place? I can't find it.
