Hanna Moore Oxendale
« on: Wednesday 14 October 20 05:59 BST (UK) »
   Hi
I have just returned to doing my family history , I have  a bit of a problem  I  found  a Family tree that is connected to mine through the Ancestry DNA site. which has my G.Grandmother and Great Grandfather Hanna and Harry Watts on it  but the  My G grandmothers birth name is different, I have her down has Hanna Moore born Feb 19 1872. The owner of the other Tree has her down has Hanna Moore Oxendale same date of birth and her Father is James Moore who is my GG Grandfather  every thing else on her tree matches . I have a copy of Hanna and Harry's Marrage Certificate which show Hanna has Hanna Moore .  I found some old files I was given some years ago and have found the Oxendale family in the Market weighton census 1861 a William Oxendale and his wife Mary.  but cannot find a connection to the Moore Family. I am in contact with the owner of the other Tree, and we are both at a loss  can anyone help. Thankyou for your time

From GRO Index:-
Oxendale, Hannah. Mar 1872. Pocklington. No mmn (mother unmarried)

From Free BMD.
James Moore and  Mary Oxendale on same page June 1874. Beverley.

If these are your people it would seem Hannah was born before parents' marriage.

In 1871 James Moor (sic) was a lodger in the household of Mary Oxendale, widow, and her four children at Market Weighton.
I found them on "Family search 1871". Sorry I cannot give you the link or reference.

The birth of daughter Caroline Oxendale in 1870

OXENDALE, CAROLINE    mothers maiden name   YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1870  J Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 77

Any Moor/Moore children born should have the mmn as Young?

In 1871 Mary's family included daughter, Caroline,  aged 1.
From Gro Index. Oxendale, Caroline.June 1870 Pocklington. Mmn Young.
FreeBmd. William Oxendale and Mary Young on same page. Sep 1859. Pocklington.
Gro Index. Death.William Oxendale Sep 1864 Pocklington. Age 27

In 1881 James and Mary have son, George, age 4.
Gro Index. Moore, George. Mar 1877. Pocklington. Mmn Young.
In 1881 James and Mary have a boarder. Matthew Young, age 58.

If you want more proof you may need to buy their marriage certificate.

PS I see johnhood has beaten me to it

Was thinking about this post whilst out walking the dog. We have ascertained that William Oxendale & Mary Young married 1859. On the 1871 census William is aged 24 and so the death in 1864 William aged 27 makes good sense. Below are the timelines of children born. So up until Elizabeth the children are probably those of William. It does beg the question of who's the father of children Fred & Caroline.

OXENDALE, JOHN       YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1859  D Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 67

OXENDALE, MATTHEW       YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1861  S Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 70

OXENDALE, ELIZABETH       YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1863  D Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 73

OXENDALE, FRED       YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1867  D Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 70

OXENDALE, CAROLINE       YOUNG
GRO Reference: 1870  J Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 77

OXENDALE, HANNAH       -
GRO Reference: 1872  M Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 71

There is also this birth but with no mothers maiden name. Doesn't really fit but for the back burner.

OXENDALE, GEORGE  WILLIAM     -
GRO Reference: 1863  M Quarter in POCKLINGTON  Volume 09D  Page 64

John

added : if Elizabeth was born early 1863 & George William very late 1863 it could possibly fit!
