On 6th December 1915, Ancestry military records, George was of Binns Road, age 26 years ? months. This fits with that pension ledger age, born 1889.

He signed for receipt of his oak leaves in 1920.  (There are 10 or 12 pages of documents together on Ancestry, several are empty or blotched.)

Was the entry looked at officially in 1939 - record dated?

If you think this is enough evidence that George Smith was born mmn Orme in 1889, then you could get that birth certificate for exact date of birth to see if he shows in 1939.

He had a brother called Ernest Smith but we don't know he was born. We know the above information because of the marriage certificate between George and Edith.

Does it state that Ernest Smith was his brother, or that Ernest Smith was a witness?  He could have been an uncle, or totally unrelated.

It's state's ernest was a witness on marriage but we have a picture of ernest daughter called lillian saying niece ernest daughter
