Perhaps if you tell us who he is with age/place of birth and which census you are unable to see him then we can look for ourselves and offer advice.  It is always easier for us when we know exactly what you are asking about  ;D

I think you are referring to the 1939 National Register?
That isn't a census! It was continually used, and updated by the NHS until the 1990s.

A person is redacted (blacked out) if they were born less than 100 years ago, and no proof of death has been found.

If he died during either 1st or 2nd World  War, there should be an entry for him on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website?

The family don’t really know anything about him just he was known as Roy Watts and must have been born in Porthcawl about 1920 onwards ( my grandad was born 1923 ) so be roundabout there somewhere , there not even sure Roy was his right name and that he was killed at about 19 by a sniper , not much help I know sorry

What was your grandad's name and when and where was he born?  Is he now dead?  If not you won't be able to give us his name.

If I can find your grandad in the birth records I can look for siblings.
