Thank you all who have contributed, you have given me the push I needed.

It would be great to be able to tell John King's story though. I knew Barachia Parnacott would be relatively easy to find because of his less common name- it might be interesting to research the child gang that he elegedly belonged to.

It is frustrating though because John King probably has the more fascinating story.

Thank you so much- this is really fascinating.

The fact that you can get the information you can really fires the imagination.

I find myself wondering- just how many other convicts like him were out there and would he have stuck out like a sore thumb?
You would imagine he could be found quite quickly by someone hungry for the reward- but I have read enough to realise the public were not always so keen to help the authorities.

There's the bare bones of a novel here if someone wants to write it.
