19th King's Regiment. 2nd Lieutenant. John Richard Jarlath MacHale
« on: Saturday 17 October 20 09:18 BST (UK) »
Hoping someone may be able to help via war diary perhaps.
1916 in June I have this officer shot in the leg. At Trone Wood. Don't think this can be correct. He convalesced in England later that year.
Want the information I am sharing to be correct for sharing in Remembrance.
John was KIA on 24th March 1918.

The 19th. KLR were at Mericourt early June 1916 which is only about 4mls. from Trones Wood.
The C.O. has listed names of men who were killed or wounded but he isn't one of them.
There's is mention of him joining the Btn. on the 25th. March 1916.

A little to add to Jim's post.  No 3 Company was sent to Trones Wood in support of the Bedfords and were "badly cut up".

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thank you both.  In the Convalescent Hospital there is no date only the year 1916.
Just can't nail where I got the information of the leg wound or the location. Guess it could have been any time from March onwards.

To confirm the date you will see next to his name on the casualty list is the letter M.
This list gives the date.
