Uk British Jewry Roll of Honour 1914-1918
« on: Saturday 17 October 20 13:53 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,
 A little help please.
Have a problem  finding the death of a  Jessell (male) Mazorkoff b. 1896 Hull and lived in Liverpool.
There is in this collection a "Pte. J. Mazerkoff ".  Cannot access on FindMyPast or ANC.
Was wondering if the record gives the name "J......) or other details that may be useful.

Appreciate your assistance and thank you.

The Roll has only the initial J and service number 273165 Machine Gun Corps no further detail. I find no further records for him.  He is not on the Commonwealth War Graves site .

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

The service number 273165 belongs to a Moses Mazerkoff of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Born in Hull, 15 November 1897. NoK Rachael Mazerkoff, 22 Fortescue Street, Liverpool.

He's listed 4 times in the British Jewry Roll of Honour under various names: Maykraff M,  Mazercoff M, Mazerkoff J, Mazerkoff M.

Do you actually have evidence of Jessell surviving childhood?
I can't see him on any census?

And there is this death Jessell Mazankoff, aged 3, 2nd q 1899, Sculcoates 9d, 108.

Is this the relevant family in Liverpool in 1901?

And in 1911?

Hi Folks,
First my thanks to all.

Jessel was born 1896 Hull (m. Cutner).  That Death would fit for year of birth, but the family lived in Liverpool.  Therefore Yorkshire?

Now the apple cart is upset for Moses.  My Moses was born 1895  - 1st qtr. Hull (m. Cutner).
1914 -  Went to Canada.
1916 -  Enlistment and  the details are correct given next of kin. (See quandry below).
1923 -  Marriage to Mildred Harris in Ontario, Canada.  Parents Mazorkoff and Cutner.
1933 -  Boarder Crossing to Detroit  Moses, Mildred and  children.
1933 -  Outward Bound to UK.
1934 -  Outward Bound for Canada.  Last address 22 Fortescue Street, Liverpool. (Parents home)

Quandry:  1. The serial number on the enlistment is the same as the one on the C.J.H.N.
               2.  Never found a death for Moses.

Mildred died in 1982 in Ontario, Canada.

Sorry gone off the original posting, but am now mystified.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

The 1901 and 1911 censuses show two of the sons and daughter Leah born in Hull, so clearly they lived there before they went to Liverpool.
