Martin Francis Collins
« on: Saturday 17 October 20 14:32 BST (UK) »
My Grandad was born in the district hospital in Jamestown, Carrick-on-Shannon in 1927. I have both parents names (Michael Collins and Teresa Quinn) however this is all I know and/or can find about them, any ideas on how I can find out more?

Im a beginner and no one in my family knows anything about my grandads family.

Thank you for any help  :)

That’s brilliant, thank you - any idea as to why the name might have been changed?

maybe it was'nt, the marriages on that page were'nt registered till 1944 for some reason the priest could have made a mistake in both their names as i think the mothers name is
Teresa Queenan

Teresa Queenan from Drumfinn,Ballymote married Henry Davitt a Tailor in Roscommon 1919

Hi all,

Thanks for all the information. When digging further through my grandads stuff I found a copy of a baptism record - looks like it was a copy given out in 1955.

It states that he was baptised in the church St Marys, Carrick-on-Shannon in December 1927 - however I cannot find the record anywhere!

Any ideas as to where I might be able to find the original Baptism record?

I have attached the copy   :) Thank you again

That would be a copy transcribed from the church baptism register, the only way you could possibly see the original would be by making a personal visit or contacting the church to see if that's possible.

at least we know the names Queenan.

possible for Michael Collins born Co Clare
