March 16th    John Shand in Burnside of Kinmintie had a Son
Shand            baptized named Alex^r Witnesses James Duncan
                     in Brakens and Barbara Panton

Although the entry comes from the Monquhitter register, both Kinminty and Brackens are in the neighbouring parish of Turriff.

John Shand in Burnside was a witness 29th July 1722 and 28th May 1727.

John Shand in Kinmintie was a witness 22nd July 1720.

John Shand in Kinmintie had a daughter, Isobel*, baptized 7th December 1703 (Alexander Panton, Kinmintie, & John George, Delgaty).

John Shand in Burnside of Kinmintie had a son, William*, baptized 14th February 1709 (Alexander Panton, Burnside, & James Young, Kinmintie).

John Shand in Burnside of Kinmintie had a daughter, Anne*, baptized 4th January 1713 (Alexander Panton, Burnside, & James Young, Kinmintie).

I found these references to John Shand by reading every baptism in Turriff for that period. The William Shand from whom I am descended is probably the one born to John Shand in 1709.

The witness James Duncan, tenant in Brackens and factor to the laird of Tolquhon for his lands in Turriff, was married to Margaret Shand. They had a daughter Christian (1696 Poll Book).
