Louis Julius Picot
« on: Sunday 18 October 20 08:51 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find details about the arrival of my Great-Great Grandfather to Australia's shores.

He was born around 1853 Port Louis, Mauritius
Son of Elysee Picot and Eugenie Potaris
He grew up in this colony where both French and English were spoken.

He married Anne (Annie) Carter on 3rd March 1876.

Anne Carter arrived on the Trebolgan around 17th October 1864, she was 11yrs old and not accompanied by her parents.  Anne was born in Ireland.  Her parents had previously migrated to Australia and were residing in the Shoalhaven district.  Annie remained in Dublin where she was living with her grandmother.

Together they had 8 children.

Annie died 4th February 1908.

Louis Julius died 8th March 1924 aged around 71 years.

I have searched Immigration Lists to no avail - but not sure where he landed in Australia or from where he might have joined a ship.

If someone can help I would be very grateful.  Thank you

Hello coralietm and welcome to RootsChat!

I can't help with his immigration (yet), but just to note his funeral notice and headstone say he was 68 when he died, so born c1856.

Hi Jamjar,
There was a mistake - who you are referring is Louis August Picot.
My Transcription Agent is getting some of the records amended as the name was shown as - Louisa August Picot.
This was arrived at by checking a number of sources.
It was very mysterious in the beginning.
