If you have a name for Ernie there may be a minimal WW2 record of him in the RA Attestation (Findmypast) and/or the RA Tracer cards (Ancestry).

Hi 👋🏻,

I’ve looked on Ancestry but couldn’t find him. I don’t have FindMyPast...

His full name was Ernest Edward Banks (born 8th October 1921) if anyone can look for me?

Many thanks, Selby

No tracer card for him on Ancestry (not unusual).  No RA attestation with a 1921 birth (and these don't have any other personal info anyway).  Doesn't mean he didn't serve in the RA though, his cap badge is totally clear.  Application for his record (you won't need a service number) is the only way to get details.

I had discounted the first as he was born 1910/11 (the discharged age limit at age 45 in 1956 computes).

The second is a possible but no dob makes it guesswork.
