Marmaduke Gowland- Mystery Man

Trying to narrow down the span of years.

In an 1826 Trade Directory Marmaduke Gowland is at The Old Unicorn, EAsingwold, North Riding (under "Inns, Taverns and Public Houses").

At the marriage of elsest son he is cited as 'the late Marmaduke Gowland' - newspaper entry in the Yorkshire Herald for Feb 1st 1851.

Still can't see a likely candidate on freebmd, even just searching 'Marmaduke"

 ... Oct. 26th, at Newton-on-Ouse, the Rev. E. Greenhow, vicar, Mr. George Ripley, Harlethorpe, farmer, to Elizabeth, only daughter of the late Mr. Marmaduke Gowland, of Linton-on-Ouse.

Burial 5th August 1835, Bubwith, Yorkshire
Marmaduke Gowland, Abode Harlthorpe, 39 years. [no earlier entries are dotted and they read Harlthorpe]

[Age at Burial would mean a Birth about 1796]

Which would tie in with a Baptism at Appleton Wiske of 1796.

Harlthorpe (also known as Harlethorpe), was in the parish of Bubwith.

Interesting that the Daughter of Marmaduke Gowland (Harlthorpe, buried Bubwith), Elizabeth Gowland of Linton upon Ouse has later married George Ripley of Harlthorp (Harlethorpe in the newspaper).

Two linked to my Family both had farms at several Yorkshire places.

Looks like Marmaduke Gowland was already dead before the first detailed Census of 1841.

So sorry for the late reply, I only just saw this.

The marriage info really ties it all together,  that must be his burial then in Bubwith. Not many blokes going around with the name of Marmaduke, I believe!
