Woolley family, Walsall or Bloxwich
« on: Saturday 07 August 04 00:12 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any Woolleys on the 1861 or 1871 censuses, in Bloxwich, Pelsall, Rushall or Walsall.  I would be grateful for any information.

Regards

Angie Woolley

Hi Angie!
There is a surname index for the census there at http://www.walsall.gov.uk/localhistorycentre/LHC_Services/Tracing_Family_Tree/Local_Census_Index/censuses.asp
A quick glance shows about 7 entries/families for 1861 and 13 for 1871.
Do you need them all?
Rose (Black Country),Downs (Black Country),Wolloxall (any and all),Bark (Derbyshire),Wright (Derbyshire),Marsden (Derbyshire), Wallace (Black Country)

I have some of the Woolley family (the Walsall) branch in my tree.  Do you want information on them?

Julie

Hi

So sorry - haven't been on the site for ages and have only just found your message!! ;)  I would be grateful for any info on the Woolley family.

I notice you are looking for the Degville family in Walsall?  I have a William Degville b. 1867 who married Catherine Tasker in 1891.  She was born in Pelsall, Walsall.  Her sister, Mary Ann married my Joseph Woolley.

Regards

Angie Woolley

Hi Angie

Great to hear from you.  I'll send you a PM with all my Woolley's.  I've also got some other's I've found that I haven't yet connected to our tree - I'll find it and send that as well.

When was your Joseph Woolley born?  I have one born 25 Dec 1850 in Walsall (a brother of my line - well my husband's line).

I also have William Degville b1867, again a brother.  His eldest sister Sophia married Oliver Guest - I don't suppose you have some of those as well do you?!

Regards

Julie

Hi Julie, Angie and Gardener. Some time ago I researched my family tree (Woolley) back to Bloxwich (1800 to 1865). I’ve just discovered your thread and I’m interested in what you know about Woolley’s in the area/more details. I’m new to the site and not sure how things work. Regards. Mark Woolley

Welcome to RootsChat Mark.

There are rules about when you can PM another person when you are a newby.

You need to write 2 more replies on here then you will be able to PM anyone.

I have William Samuel Woolley 1863 - 1947 of Nuneaton marrying in Walsall (St Paul's) to Mary Ann Platt (my gt grandmother's sister, my maternal line)

Is Samuel part of your family?
