Thankyou everyone.

I have a 3-4 cousin dna match 154cM across 4 segments - the majority of shared matched I can connect to the Macnays - other people match to Sarah Parkin (1865) parents Anthony Parkin and Ann Laws - when I saw an Alice Laws on the 1851 census with Joseph Macnay, son of Thomas and Alice, I thought there could be some link to Ann and Alice as they were close in age so could be sisters - although Alice is recorded as servant I thought she could be related possibly a niece

So looking at the marriage record you found Ann's dad is Thomas Laws.

Is there a marriage record for Thomas Laws and Dorothy Smith?

One possible Alice.

Thomas McNay has a daughter Mary McNay who marries a William Days, 18 May 1840 Gateshead. Some family trees on Ancestry have kindly posted the marriage cert.

William and Mary Days have a daughter Alice, baptised Lamesley 1 June 1842. Abode is Eighton Banks, right next to Wrekenton.

William and Mary Days are living in Haswell in 1851, same township as Joseph and Mary McNay, but no Alice with them. Joseph McNay and Mary Days are both down as born Wallsend, Northumberland.

Alice Days reappears in 1861 age 19, born Wrekenton. According to various trees she marries a George Henderson in 1862 and subsequently gives her place of birth as Wrekenton in most later census.

Days - Laws ?

Alan.

Northumberland - Smith, Willis,
Durham - Rogerson, Child
Cumberland - Irving, Hill
North Yorkshire - Layfield,
Ireland - Collins
