Unfortunately my library service is still living in the 20th century, there's no access to anything like that.  :(

That is a shame.  I have not used it much for books but do use it each week for magazines

I was given the new Ken Folett book for my birthday... not had a chance to read it yet.... been busy... sewing!

Thanks for the tip Roobarb about A. Prime..both parcels received to day and it’s going to cost me min of £3.99 to return it.. think I’ll ask my daughter if she’d like them to give as presents when either of the boys go to outdoor b’day parties!...
I’ve made a note on the calendar to make sure it doesn’t renew as I’m not going to be paying for it!

A friend of mine was making all the "gear" for nursing homes, she then went on to make masks for a local charity, last  I heard she had made £1800, she is now making for another charity selling  then for £2.00 each, we gave elastic and sheeting type materials but she has bought some really nice Christmas materials and is beavering away

My neighbours wife died recently and she was a seamstress,  her husband  has given me cottons and  4 rolls of poly/cotton, she will use it as backing to make her Christmas material go further, she lives on her own and can't sit still but she has suffered  a really bad vertigo  attack, I  wonder if she is doing to much.

Strange day, similar to April showers with sun in between, must have been very windy last night as a huge planter was blown over across the road

Dark now, curtains closed, lights on and battened down for the evening, roll on March !!

Went a walk, just around  the cemetery.
Tesco order came ,no bags ,nor liner for trays .Nuisance!

I am sending money  for new winter all weather boots for FH.
I had an idea ,only feasible if my grandson comes before Christmas.
I have a nice piece of marine ply ,and blackboard paint .
If I can get some sturdy legs ,to make it like a very low table,he could sit on the floor and chalk on the “ table” blackboard.
I think he needs other interests than outdoor ones, something to occupy him so he can amuse himself inside on rainy days when there is no school.
He has been with adults - his parents - for months .
He has really taken to school , now  they are  off for two weeks  - half term.
Just looking for a really good recipe for a Dundee cake.
Can’t find  the  book ,so went online but it does not seem as good as the one
I have used before from Riverside Cottage.
Not a problem really is it!
Had a good laugh this evening  Top Gear ,Freddy Flintoff fastened to  the roof of a racing car ,eating a banana.
Gosh but he is thin ,suffers from Bulimia ,looks so different from his cricket hey days.
They raced along the top iof the massive slate quarries in Wales with a deep deep pool below them. They must be mad!
Well .quick tidy up and Martin Chuzzlewit ,don’t feel a bit tired .
Could be in for a sleepless night !

Is this the cake recipe you're looking for Viktoria?:

https://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/dundee-cake

When you do your Tesco order make sure you tick the box for bags or liners and check that it shows Yes on your final order.  I got caught out on my first one so I always double check now.

LM - your friend is doing a marvellous job with her sewing to raise all that money, well done her...I’d love to have some pretty material ... doing just plain colours at the moment... somefrom our group has made some fab ones with Poppy’s on.. three different fabrics they look wonderful... all ready for Remembrance Day...

Viktoria- you are full of surprises... now painting a table to make as a blackboard... great idea... We bought our boys  An easel one black board one side, white board the other side... well done Roobarb for finding the recipe for Dundee cake, my dads favourite...

Rosie - I use e books with my library card, it’s very handy... don’t always have the ones I want but quite a lot.

I have made a few experimenting when I see a new style, bought a poppy one from Christchurch when we were there, had to replace the elastic as it was to tight.

For church I am wearing a completely see through acetate one, so far not found a style that completely is mist free for glasses, working on it though

I  am not sure what is happening remembrance Sunday, numbers are limited, I am sure for once we could all stand in the churchyard, I have stood at the war memorial at times so it wouldn't be any different, just wrap up warm

I looked for fat  quarters online for Christmas material, some look really nice, I saw a woman with a beautiful one with diamanté  stones, that looked really swish.

I made one mask out of my grandsons duvet, it was London underground stations ad the map, there was a sign saying "mind the gap", well I just had to make a mask out of that with mind the gap in the right place, well it was all light hearted and silly but it was fun, have to choose where I wear it though

It is now Monday, having had a lousy weekend weather-wise it is beautiful here, sun out and blue skies.

Take care

Roobarb I think it is, I have a little book of HFWhittingstall’s but a much simpler recipe than the one you have sent .
It was lovely - the one I made ,yours is ringing  memory bells.
A bit special too as I used a smokey whisky ,and it could be discerned in the cake  , but really festive without being too sickly.
I won’t use a smokey whisky this time but oranges and marmalade - yummy..
Thanks very much.So much more interesting than the “ ordinary “ one.
I have not had to say bags or no bags before but will in future ,thanks again.
I have looked and yes there is the choice .
Wonder why that recipe did not come up  when  I googled it .
It is a sugar conspiracy .
I don’t know what to do with myself today ,lots I could do , perhaps do as Roobarb ,sort craft stuff out ,then again I must check dates on dried fruit etc .
Work out what I need to buy.
You can tell stir -up Sunday passed me by .
And me such a traditionalist ,do you think I am becoming rebellious in my advancing years.?Well, we all ought to be a bit before
we pop our clogs .
I imagine some will have no idea what that means.
Well to “ pop “ can mean to pawn ,ie take to the Pawnbroker’s .
So either pawn your clogs as you need the money to eat or pay rent
OR you are dead and your family do it for you  ::).Viktoria
Off topic warning —-In Manchester there was a charity -Charter St.Mission.
It provided among other things clogs for very poor children who otherwise
would be barefoot .
Sad to say their drunken fathers often pawned those clogs,so burnt into the wooden heel of the clogs was “ NOT TO BE PAWNED “.
Any pawnshop with such clogs could be prosecuted.
Oh happy days-not!
Social history class over for the day!
So dating dried fruit nuts cherries peel etc etc.first
A list of necessities ,and another cuppa .
Morse is on this morning and tonight ——.
Viktoria.
