Jersey Lunatic Asylum
« on: Sunday 25 October 20 10:01 GMT (UK) »
I have found three relatives who were nurses in the Jersey Lunatic Asylum in 1911. As far as I'm aware, none had any previous connection with Jersey.
They were two sisters Eleanor Sarah Henley and Alice Mildred Henley, both born in Lambeth, south London, and their cousin Elizabeth Emily Button born in Brighton. Eleanor later married Charles John Diaper and lived for many years in Jersey, but the other two moved back to London and Brighton respectively.
I am very curious about why (and when) they would all three have gone to work in Jersey. Was there maybe another family member already there?
Also - there's a photo online, of asylum staff in 1910 (copy attached). I wonder if anyone has a key, identifying who they all are?
