I agree with Tomkin, it's been badly colourised in the first place, which is why I tried to tone down the 'original' colours.

Thank you everyone.  I don't know who colourised the photo in my original post but toning it down as you have done makes it much more realistic.  1920s would have been my 'best guess' on the date.
