The same happens if I enter 'Charles Duce'. I know you've sent the link, but if I wanted to search I would not find it. Did you click the 'search archive' button or am I missing something?

You can’t search by name.

You go to Ryerson Index and hopefully find the name you are looking for. You get the year which to put into the box after searching for ‘Google SMH archives’. When you get the year editions showing you scroll for the month. Click and the get the day. Not all editions are available even if they are on Ryerson.

Sometimes you have to scroll through a whole edition to find the birth death marriages. Other times they a on the first page of the day after the day seen on Ryerson.

It’s complicated.

You can also get Melbourne’s The Age archives.
