Ellen Hughes - dating of photo

I would greatly appreciate any help in dating the attached photo please.

It is titled 'Ellen Hughes' and I believe her to be the sister of my Great, great grandfather. She was born in 1861.

I'm thinking she must be about 30 perhaps in this photo, which would place it as having been taken c.1890.

It looks mid -late 1880s. Can you scan  the back to check the card stock.

Was Hughes her maiden name or a married name?  To help with an age for her.  I would say she looks to be in her mid to late 20's.

Yes, Hughes was her Maiden name. I'm not sure if she married or not as of yet.

It looks as if it's been processed - halos around edges and some smudges/blurring  on face.  If you can get a scan if the original we could do better restoration for you.
