Charles McDonald of strathdon mystery?
« on: Tuesday 27 October 20 21:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi there I’m currently researching the family of John McDonald and Jane Davidson of strathdon, Aberdeen , scotland

A son Charles McDonald born in 1864, strathdon ,
Can anyone find what happened to him or any info at all?

I see an ancestry suggesting he went to Canada but if someone can find any proof of that I would be very grateful as I can’t find a death cert for
Him in Scotland

Thanks

Ryan

What is the last census you have him on?  Did his parents remain in Scotland?

Have you checked outgoing passenger records on Ancestry or checked if anybody has a tree which includes him?

Have asked moderator to move your post to the Aberdeen board

EDIT

1881 census shows birthplace as Tarland Migvie

Hi there

Last census was 1881

His parents stayed here in Scotland

I chose common room
Because I didn’t know whether it was scotland or Canada section of forum that would suit this post

Thanks
Ryan

I'm just posting his birth details from FS

Have you tried searching the Canadian & US censuses?

Thanks so much can anyone take this further ?

The children’s names looks very familiar as they are all common names within other branches of the McDonald’s

Maybe worth contacting the tree member on Ancestry to see where they got the information from

On that tree it suggests that in 1900
Charles McDonald’s residence was

1900 • Chatham, Ontario, Canada

The one in Chatham in the 1901 Census was born in Ontario age 16 living with his parents and siblings.
