Annie Bromely AKA Roberts
« on: Wednesday 28 October 20 11:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to find out about Annie Bromley's parents, unfortunately without success.
She was born in 1902 and died in 1965, both in North Wales and married John Llewelyn Bromley in 1921. What is also confusing, is on her death certificate, it said she was AKA Roberts which we know nothing about.
Her maiden name was Williams, so we assume her mother was a Williams, but again, we have conflicting information about whether she was called Jane Williams or Catherine Jane Williams.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Beverley Neville

Have you found Annie and her husband in the 1939 Register?   We  aren't allowed to post details but they appear to be living seperately and finding them might explain the AKA Roberts ref on her death cert

So you are looking for Annie Williams - Bromley was her married name.  Have amended subject header

You need to buy a copy of her 1921 marriage cert to see if she names a father.  Williams is a very common surname and there are far too many of her name and age on the 1911 census to determine the right one

Thanks for the information.
Funnily enough, I was going to try and order a birth certificate tomorrow as it should have her mother's details on it, but hadn't thought of a marriage certificate, as they usually just have witness details on them I think, but may give it a go if the birth certificate doesn't give us the information.
Thanks again
Bev

Yes, thanks. We think they separated but are not sure unfortunately.

Have you got her in free index for us?
Best I can come up with! :-\
Annie Wheeler (Bromley), born 1902
at 4 Middle Street, Bethesda U.D., Caernarvonshire
Oswald Roberts and 2 more people are on this record

Oswald born 1891 in free index.
I think maybe she is Annie Bernley on ancestry? Not sure what it says, and we aren't really allowed to comment.

may give it a go if the birth certificate doesn't give us the information.

But which birth cert?
Is this who you think Annie is in 1911 (free index)? :-\
Annie Williams, age 8, in Llandegai, Caernarvonshire, parents Thomas and Jane
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7VV-9GD

Mother might be a Jones. Difficult to be sure! Thomas and Jane possibly still alive in 1939 and also in Bethesda U.D.

Your first step is to get the marriage certificate to find her father's name and occupation as well as her address at the time of marriage.

You need to buy a copy of her 1921 marriage cert to see if she names a father.  Williams is a very common surname and there are far too many of her name and age on the 1911 census to determine the right one

Why do you think she was illegitimate?

Why do you think she was illegitimate?

She might just think that Annie's mother was Mrs. Williams.
