My Leicester Poor Law CD has the following, under the Quarter Sessions:

Easter session 1818 - Removal Order
Thomas Dent
Elizabeth Dent (Wife)
Fanny Dent 3 (Daughter)
Mary Dent 1 (Daughter)

The two parishes were Staunton Harold & Newbold Verdon

At the same session, and involving the same two parishes:
James Dent
Phoebe Dent (Wife)
Thomas 18m (Son)
John 1m (Son)

Interesting. Are these the sessions where paupers got sent home to their birth villages because the place where they were currently living didn't want to support them?

Don't suppose there's any indication that James and Thomas are related?

R.
Pratt, Smith, Jay, Wyatt - Essex
Dickens, Betteridge - London, Oxfordshire
Perrins, Bourne, Hickman, Fletcher - Aylesbury, Stoke upon Trent

Not necessarily their birth parish, just where they had settlement - which could be because that's where they served their apprenticeship etc.

There's no further details on the CD, and no indication that the settlement examinations have survived either, unfortunately.

Yes, I saw the James Edwards one and also noted a baptism 23 Jun 1793 at Whitwick, James Edwards s/o Mary Parsons.

Added: Forgot to say that I'd mentally ruled him out as being James Dent as Mary Parsons & James Edwards married in Whitwick in 1797.

James Dent is in John Street, Stoke on Trent in 1851, aged 60 and born 'Linkstone', Leicestershire.  Could be an error for Thringstone?
