Missing 1901 census and National Archives
« on: Thursday 29 October 20 14:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi
The section for Irishtown  Clonmel seems to be missing from the 1901 census is there someone I can contact to see if it is missing or just not on line yet ? Also is there a way to get access to documents held in National Archive. I see documents on there that are related to family members but am not getting any response from them on how I could access them
Thanks
Paul

Have you seen this thread? You can add your missing townland to it.

i think you are right, however in case you didnt check the 1911 census I found the census does include Irishtown Upper   Clonmel West Urban   Tipperary
eg http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tipperary/Clonmel_West_Urban/Irishtown_Upper/818263/

originally it was in St mary Clonmel townland in Tipperary South riding, if the continuation valuation revision books for griffiths exist in the same way as those held in PRONI, belfast your homestead may be listed under occupier
good luck onwards

Did Sinann find some Irishtown 1901 census back in 2018?
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=792577.0

Found Irishtown Upper (see top right corner)

The same thing on FamilySearch
Images more faded
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99L5-ZJYF

They do flag up a lot of missing pages on that Clonmel film.

But are any of those "Burgagery-lands" people (28, not many!) living Irishtown? :-\

Sinann on the other thread I linked to

Address
 Burgagery Lands West, Irishtown Upper

Think that should be the other way around
Irishtown Upper is the street
Burgagery Lands West is the townland.
Clonmel

thanks I was looking to see who lived at 56 Irishtown in 1901 and the link from Sinnan was amazing enough number 56, my mother was born there and her family had lived there for just over 100 years. They only moved in there in 1919 but I have a photo taken before then which shows a small child standing at the door and was trying to find who it could have been
